Shoot For the Moon!!

SHOOT FOR THE MOON

#GivingTuesday Drive for $25

Together Anything is Possible!!

Each year, donations from our Aldrin families help fund numerous programs for our school through our Direct Contribution Campaign (DCC). This is the primary source of fundraising for the PTA and allows the PTA to provide a wide variety of programs for students & teachers. In past years, your contributions have helped fund field trips and the required buses, assemblies, GREAT Art, laptops, books for the classrooms as well as the Book Room, classroom projector replacements, assignment notebooks and much, much more. Last year, your generosity enabled us to achieve 94% of our goal.

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to help the school with continued technology enhancements for the classrooms as well as instructional support for the teachers and classrooms.  We have reached 87% of our goal this year thru our DCC campaign.  Please consider contributing a donation of $25 in celebration and recognition of the 25th Anniversary of Aldrin Elementary to support our children and our wonderful school.   You may also choose to select one of our various "Shoot for the Moon" levels listed below that include a 2019-20 PTA Membership as well as a donation to the DCC.  Your DCC donations are tax-deductible and your support is greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your support!

FCPS Policy

Fairfax County Schools (FCPS) offers the opportunity for nonprofit organizations to make their materials available to students and parents.  Each school principal has the option of how they want to distribute to their individual school.

To ensure that schools remain neutral, do not appear to approve or disapprove any particular religious or political viewpoint, and do not sponsor or endorse the classes or activities sponsored by any community organization, all non-school and nongovernmental materials made available through the schools must include the following disclaimer:

“These materials are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the Fairfax County School Board, the Superintendent, or this school.”

Winter Weather

Dear FCPS Families,

The winter months are upon us and that can often bring challenging weather conditions.  We want to remind parents, students, and staff members that FCPS monitors weather conditions daily in case school must be cancelled, delayed, or closed early due to weather. Parents and students should have a well communicated family plan in place in the event of emergency weather situations.

The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority whenever a decision is made regarding school closures and delays. FCPS reviews information from emergency management and state highway officials about road conditions, and school personnel inspect the conditions of roads, sidewalks, FCPS parking lots, and bus lanes. This information contributes to the final decision about a delay or closing.

Due to the speed of updating, the official @FCPSnews Twitter account is generally the first and fastest mode of communication. Other communication channels will be updated as quickly as possible including email, text, website, other social media, and local news stations.

FCPS tries to make decisions in the evening, realizing that parents need time to make proper arrangements. But when there is a great deal of uncertainty, we wait to receive the latest morning forecast. In that case, the superintendent decides whether to delay or close schools by approximately 4:30 a.m.

More information about weather cancellation procedures is available online.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
